The Eskişehir Mevlevihanesi book, now in its 3rd Turkish edition, can be obtained from Yediler Bookstore in Eskişehir or from the Kurşunlu Library.
This documentary work, authored by Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Adalıoğlu and researcher-writer Nizamettin Arslan, chronicles the history of the Eskişehir Mevlevihane from its founding in 1525 to its closure in 1925.
The first edition of Eskişehir Mevlevihanesi was published in 2008 by Kesit Publishing House. The second edition was released in 2010 by the Odunpazarı Municipality. The third edition, enriched with new additions and pictures, was published by our association in January 2024 to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the passing (Vuslat) of Hz. Mevlâna.
The book contains new information, documents, and photographs related to the Mevlevihane, based on archival records, images, foundation deeds, the lives of postnişîns, and the memoirs of dervishes. In addition to detailing the history of the Mevlevihane, the work also sheds light on the legacy of Mevlevi graves in Eskişehir.
The book demonstrates that the Eskişehir Mevlevihane, recognized as one of the fifteen principal Mevlevi lodges, served as a significant center of culture and education. It nurtured many dervishes and artists, and illustrates the profound impact Mevlevism has left on the cultural landscape of the Turkish world.
In preparing this work, the oldest available sources related to the Eskişehir Mevlevihane were consulted, including the Konya Mevlana Museum Archive, the Presidential Ottoman Archives, the Directorate General of Foundations Archive, as well as numerous books and academic articles.
This book serves as a valuable resource for historians, history students, educators, those interested in Mevlevism, and lovers of Eskişehir. It was created to preserve, promote, and sustain the historical legacy of the Eskişehir Mevlevihane and represents the result of 17 years of dedicated research and effort.
